CorporateCelebrating The Year of Abundance: A Private Screening at the Italian Embassy in London
Last week, Atlante hosted a private screening of its first documentary, The Year of Abundance, at the Embassy of Italy in London.
The evening brought together producers, partners and professionals from across the food industry to reflect on Italian food culture and on the 2025 harvest, which delivered strong results across key categories including wine, olive oil and durum wheat.
More than a film premiere, the event created space to recognise the people and partnerships behind these products, and to consider how more resilient food systems can be built over time.
An evening shaped by the supply chain
Among the guests was the Deputy Ambassador of Italy to the United Kingdom, Riccardo Smimmo, alongside producers featured in the documentary and partners from across the supply chain.
The audience reflected a wide range of perspectives – from farmers and producers to retailers and industry decision-makers – all connected by a shared role in bringing Italian food from field to table.
Guests also experienced a selection of products featured in the film, including regional wines, olive oils and wheat-based products, creating a direct link between the documentary and its subject matter.
The film: The Year of Abundance
Il documentario: The Year of Abundance
At the centre of the evening was the premiere of The Year of Abundance, Atlante’s first documentary project.
Directed by Natasha Olive and presented by botanist and science communicator James Wong, the film explores Italy’s exceptional 2025 harvest through journeys across vineyards, olive groves and wheat mills.
It highlights the landscapes, expertise and production practices that define Italian food, together with the people who sustain them.
Reflecting on the experience, the director noted: “Travelling across Italy and meeting the producers behind wine, olive oil and durum wheat, one thing stood out above all: passion. A deep care for quality, provenance and traditions passed down through generations. My hope is that in fifty years we will still be able to tell these same stories.”
The project was made possible thanks to the collaboration of producers across Italy. As executive producer and Atlante Chief Marketing Officer Elisa Tura explains: “Food is never just about the final product. It is about the people, expertise and partnerships that make it possible at every stage. This documentary was created to highlight an exceptional year for Italian agriculture and the value generated across the supply chain.”
The context: a year of abundance
In recent years, global food systems have faced increasing volatility, driven by climate pressure, geopolitical instability and supply chain disruption.
Within this context, the 2025 harvest stands out as a significant moment for several key Italian crops.
As Atlante CEO Natasha Linhart reflected during the evening: “2025 was an extraordinary year for Italian agriculture — a year of abundance that invited us to pause, observe what happened across the supply chain, and reflect on how that value should be understood, not reduced to price.”
The paradox of abundance
Abundance also brings complexity.
Higher production volumes can place pressure on the supply chain, often reducing complex systems of expertise and labour to a cost-driven perspective.
At the same time, these moments create an opportunity to reconsider how value is generated and how it can be preserved.
From farmers and producers to processors, distributors and retailers, each part of the chain plays a role in maintaining quality, knowledge and continuity over time.
Looking ahead
The Year of Abundance ultimately raises a forward-looking question: how can a positive moment be used to strengthen long-term resilience?
The evening at the Embassy of Italy in London highlighted a clear point: the future of food depends on collaboration, not only in times of disruption, but also in moments of stability.
For Atlante, the project represents both a reflection on the present and an invitation to recognise the real value behind the products we work with every day.
