NewsCelebrating The Year of Abundance: A Private Screening at the Italian Embassy in London
Last week, Atlante had the pleasure of hosting a private screening of our first documentary, The Year of Abundance, at the Embassy of Italy, London.
The evening brought together producers, partners and leaders from across the food industry to celebrate Italian food culture and reflect on the remarkable 2025 harvest, that saw strong production across key staples including wine, olive oil and durum wheat.
More than just a film premiere, the event was an opportunity to recognise the people and partnerships behind these products, and to reflect on how the industry can build more resilient food systems for the future.
An Evening Celebrating Italian Food and Partnership
We were honoured to welcome the Deputy Ambassador of Italy to the United Kingdom, Riccardo Smimmo, alongside producers featured in the film and partners from across the supply chain.
The evening brought together a unique mix of voices, from farmers and producers to retailers and industry decision-makers, all connected by a shared role in bringing Italian food from field to table.
Guests also had the opportunity to experience the products featured in the documentary through tastings of regional wines, olive oils and wheat-based products, offering a tangible connection to the stories explored on screen.
The Film: The Year of Abundance
At the heart of the evening was the premiere of The Year of Abundance, Atlante’s first documentary.
Directed by Natasha Olive and presented by botanist and science communicator James Wong, the film explores the story behind Italy’s exceptional 2025 harvest.
Through journeys across vineyards, olive groves and wheat mills, the documentary highlights the landscapes, craftsmanship and expertise that define Italian food, and the people who sustain it.
Reflecting on the experience, director Natasha Olive shared: “Travelling across Italy and meeting the farmers and producers behind wine, olive oil and durum wheat, one thing stood out above all: the passion. A deep care for quality, provenance and traditions passed down through generations. My hope is that in fifty years we will still be able to tell these same stories.”
The project was made possible thanks to the openness and collaboration of producers across Italy. As executive producer and Atlante Chief Marketing Officer Elisa Tura explained: “Food is never just about the final product. It is about the people, expertise and partnerships that make it possible at every stage of the journey. This documentary was created to celebrate an exceptional year for Italian agriculture and to highlight the value generated across the entire supply chain.”
The Story Behind the Abundance
In recent years, global food systems have faced increasing volatility, shaped by climate pressures, geopolitical instability and supply chain disruption.
Against this backdrop, the 2025 harvest stood out as a rare moment of abundance for several key Italian crops.
As Natasha Linhart, CEO of Atlante, reflected during the evening: “Because 2025 was an extraordinary year for Italian agriculture, a year of abundance that invited us to pause, celebrate what happened across the supply chain, and reflect on how that abundance should be valued, not reduced to a simple question of price.”
The Paradox of Abundance
Abundance, however, is not without its challenges.
Moments of strong production can create pressure within the supply chain, often reducing complex systems of expertise, labour and craftsmanship to a focus on cost.
Yet these moments also present an opportunity.
They allow the industry to step back and consider how value is created, and crucially, how it can be protected.
From farmers and producers to mills, distributors and retailers, every part of the supply chain has a role to play in ensuring that the quality, heritage and sustainability of these products are maintained for generations to come.
Looking Ahead: Building Resilient Food Systems
The Year of Abundance ultimately asks a forward-looking question: how can today’s success be used to strengthen tomorrow’s resilience?
The evening at the Embassy of Italy, London served as a reminder that the future of food depends on collaboration, not only in times of challenge, but also in moments of success.
For Atlante, the project represents both a celebration of Italian food culture and a call to action: to recognise the true value behind the products we enjoy every day, and to work together to ensure they continue to thrive for generations to come.
